Spring/Summer  of 2017 marks People Loving People’s second summer of our urban garden. Throughout the year we have been able to expand the number of plots because of the generosity of individuals in our community. People have given their time, energy and money for us to sow a variety produce for us to reap the harvest and redistribute it back into our community to feed families in need.

Though one of the main purposes of the garden is to subsidize People Loving People’s food ministry, the garden is about more than food.  While we sow seeds and reap our harvest of produce,   we also have a vision to sow seeds of community and education. That, at time do harvest, we will reap hope, wholeness and freedom. We desire for  individuals to come together for a unified cause; to grow together with 4 P’s:
  • provide healthy food for families that they may PROSPER in health and wellness
  • create a place of solace, where we can gather together, feel secure and  foster conversations about our PURPOSE
  • encourage, affirm and guide others into reaching their POTENTIAL
  • educate individuals, families, and communities about life affirming choices that PREPARE them for their future.

We desire to see our community thrive and prosper; in physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well being.  May this garden be a step on the path towards restoration and renewal.

This year we are hoping for an abundant harvest. We have raspberries, apples, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, onions, carrots, turnips, parsnips, beets, sweet potatoes, potatoes, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, zucchini, squash, basil, beans, spinach, and cucumbers all growing in our garden!
